AQP stands for Advanced Qualification Program.

The airlines all got the "go-ahead" from the FAA to develop their own Advanced Qualification PROGRAMS, which they did.

And we all know what a great success that turned out to be.

For General Aviation, we have the beginnings of a Grassroots movement to improve safety and reduce fatal accidents.

We have some attempts at formalizing programs of training and check-rides.

We also have the list of ways GA pilots are killing themselves that Dan Gryder has compiled and uses to identify the "Probable Cause" of accidents on his website thedtsb.org.

Dan also creates entertaining videos and does his Live Sunday Show to raise awareness of the latest fatal accidents and quickly identify his best educated guess as to the probable cause of each one and then give us a helpful recommendation so that we can learn from the tragedy.

What we don't have is a formal Advanced Qualification PROGRAM for General Aviation.

I believe it is critical to have such a thing if we want to make more progress in 2026 in the efforts to get the word out and help reduce the fatal accident rate to Dan's goal of no more than 11 fatals per month on average.

But to come up with such a PROGRAM, we need Grassroots Input.
