Dan Gryder is a flight instructor with 40 years of experience and a former Delta Airlines captain. He is the driving force behind the grassroots movement promoting and teaching Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) principles for General Aviation.

Recognizing the stark difference in fatal accident rates between general aviation and the airlines, Gryder adapted the airline industry's AQP concept to improve safety in the general aviation community. The airline industry's success in mitigating fatal accidents through AQP, which focuses on custom-tailored training and frequent reviews of critical maneuvers, inspired Gryder to introduce this approach to general aviation.
